Reports to: Regional Controller
Position Summary: The Regional Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations across multiple locations including Wild Rose locations in West Des Moines, Emmetsburg, and Jefferson. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A key aspect of this position involves regular travel to various sites within the region to provide on-site accounting support, conduct audits, facilitate training, and ensure consistent financial practices for all daily audit of slots, tables, and retail operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for multiple locations.
o. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for regional operations.
o Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for significant deviations.
o Generate ad-hoc financial reports as requested by management.
• General Ledger Management:
o Perform accurate and timely data entry into the general ledger system.
o Reconcile various accounts, including bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
o Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
o Maintain chart of accounts and ensure consistency across locations.
• Accounts Payable and Payroll:
o Oversee and, at times, directly manage accounts payable processes for regional locations, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
o Resolve discrepancies and issues related to billing and vendor payments.
o Oversee and, at times directly manage payroll processes for regional locations.
• Travel & On-Site Support (Estimated 30-50% travel):
o Travel regularly to various regional locations to provide hands-on accounting support.
o Conduct internal audits of financial records and operational procedures at each site to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
o Assist with month-end and year-end close processes at individual locations.
o Provide training and support to local staff on accounting procedures, software, and best practices.
o Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations across the region.
o Act as a liaison between regional locations and corporate accounting.
• Compliance & Internal Controls:
o Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.
o Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
o Support external audit requirements as needed.
• Other Duties:
o Assist with special projects as assigned by the Regional Controller or management.
o Collaborate effectively with operational teams at all regional locations.
o Acts as backup for daily slot and table operations and W2G forms in Casino Trac system and issuance of reports to appropriate personnel.
o Reviews CTR’s and MTL’s and distributes to appropriate personnel.
o Organizing and inputting of all aspects of payroll and posting to payroll records for Wild Rose Emmetsburg and Wild Rose Jefferson as needed.
o Annual audits and other payroll audits as assigned.
o Other duties as assigned.
Education, Qualifications and Requirements: Must be able to obtain and retain a gaming license. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with multi-location or regional responsibilities which includes a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills required). Willingness and ability to travel frequently (30-50% or more) within the designated region, including overnight stays, as required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Special Attendance Requirements: Wild Rose Casino & Hotel is in operation seven days a week, 365 days a year. Employees will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, split shifts and overtime. We are not able to work around outside activities or other jobs unless it is agreed to, in writing, at time of hire.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time; walk, and reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
